Joan of Arc - “Please Sleep” from The Intelligent Design Of
Throughout high school, I always had an inaccurate perception of Joan of Arc being some quintessential emo band. Their Cap’n Jazz past, affiliation with The Promise Ring, Jade Tree, and the layout of their records always led me to believe they sounded a certain way and once I purchased the Method and Sentiment 7”, it became clear I was way off base. For all intents and purposes, I am a very casual JOA listener. I like a few records and listen to them sporadically, but I’ve always loved this song and its simplicity. I think the line, “me and you in a photo booth, black and white picture proof” is what really drives it home for me.
