Julie Doiron - “Ce Charmant Coeur” from Désormais
There is talk of Chicago getting hit by a blizzard today. I keep hearing different things, but it’s been mentioned we could get up to 18” of snow. We haven’t had something of that magnitude since I was in high school. I typically take these ridiculous storm warnings with a grain of salt, but the comparison to recent east coast blizzards has me thinking we might actually be in for it this time. I hate snow and now that I’m an adult and don’t really have the luxury of snow days, the idea of commuting in this nonsense is extremely unappealing. Personally, I’d rather be in a nice warm apartment, drinking coffee, reading a book and listening to this record softly in the background. It’s perfect for snowy cold days when you can’t or don’t want to leave the house. Doiron’s voice is beautiful and delicate and the lyrics are sung entirely in French. I have no idea what she’s saying, but it sounds wonderful.
So, either let it snow so much I can’t leave the house or not snow at all. I can’t stand being stuck somewhere in the middle.
