Lemuria - “Mechanical” from Get Better
I’ve always liked Lemuria, but have been pretty passive about listening to their records aside from the collection of EP’s. However, Lindsay has been listening to this record a fair amount lately and it’s made me give it another shot. The 7”s always grabbed me a bit more, but I think I just needed to listen to Get Better in a different context to fully appreciate it. There are a lot of great songs on here and the last song, “Mechanical,” is a stand out for me. The “Shut Up, Shut Up, Shut Up” chorus and the way they revisit the opening riff in the chorus are what really make the song for me. I’m pretty psyched to see them this weekend. I wonder if 470 people will really show up. That seems outrageous.
