Owls - “Everyone is my Friend” from Owls
I think Owls are my 4th favorite Kinsella project (behind American Football, Cap’n Jazz and Owen), but that’s still saying a lot because I love this record and wish they would have done more. SomehowI only saw them once, at the Fireside, with bands I can’t remember. They sounded great and it was the first time I experienced how brutally hilarious Tim Kinsella is.
Owls wrote a record of complex, noodly songs full of interesting pop hooks which were rounded out by Kinsella’s trademark obscure lyrics and vocal delivery. Jade Tree recently repressed the LP version after many years of it being relegated to the costly eBay abyss. I’m going to have pick that thing up instead of snoozing on it again.
