The Mountain Goats - “San Bernardino” from Heretic Pride
I always wanted to like The Mountain Goats more than I ever actually liked them. Friends would put songs on mixtapes for me and though I always enjoyed those songs, I could never fully immerse myself in his complete records. Even in the case of this song, I haven’t sat down and listened to all of Heretic Pride yet because this song is so beautiful, I keep listening to it over and over. I don’t know if it’s been in the soundtrack of a movie yet, but someone should really plant this song in a scene of a couple driving along the coastline as the sun sets. That’s the immediate picture I get in my head every time I hear it.
