Michael Jackson - “P.Y.T” from Thriller
I’m meeting a friend of a friend this evening to discuss DJing his wedding. If he and his fiancé decide I’m the man for the job it will be the first big thing I’ve done as far as DJing goes. I’m only used to playing records at bars and parties, so the idea of being a DJ and an MC for a big event is a pretty nerve wracking proposition. While I’m sociable and good with people, I’m more of a one-on-one type than a public speaker, so that part kind of worries me. I’m really excited about the opportunity though. I like being versatile and enjoy the possibility of bridging the gap between relative obscurity and massive hits everyone can get into. So, if all goes according to plan, they’ll be down with me playing this song, an undeniable MJ classic. Maybe I’ll play “Don’t Stop til you get Enough” instead. Who knows? I’m getting so psyched at all the Michael Jackson possibilities for this event. Every wedding needs songs like this because they are instant party starters, much like Montell Jordan’s “This is How We Do it,” a song I’m also thinking about playing.
